Class Description
The class will be creating a Hen Basket. This basket was thought to have originated in Scotland, where it was said they carried live hens to market. The basket is made using 3 round hoops with on handle in the center. Students do not need to have prior experience in order to complete this project. The instructor will teach this basket from beginning to end! Each participant will come away with information on Appalachian Baskets, their origins, and their uses. Information will be provided on how to order supplies for future baskets.

About the Instructor
Kathy Dulaney is a native of Floyd County and has been weaving baskets and teaching classes for 35 years. Weaving mostly older Appalachian style baskets, she strives to keep the tradition alive by teaching younger folks the art. If you make a basket in one of her classes you can be sure that it will be something you can use. Each basket was designed for a specific purpose and Kathy stresses the usefulness of each in her classes.
Class Registration and Cancellation Policy
Advance Registration Required.
Registration: Class registrations are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cancellation/Refund: The Floyd Center for the Arts will conduct classes for which an adequate number of students are registered. Class status is determined 1 week before the first date of the class, unless otherwise noted. Acceptance of payment does not guarantee that a class will run. If the Center must cancel a scheduled class, students who registered for such classes will be given the opportunity to transfer their payments to another course or receive a full refund of their tuition payment.
Student Withdrawals: Students withdrawing from a class before the cancellation period has ended, (one week prior to the start of class, unless otherwise noted) can receive a full refund or may transfer their payments to another class of their choice. Students who withdraw after the cancellation period has closed or after class has started, will not receive a refund.
