Class Description
In this class, you will learn the fundamental aspects of soap making, how cold process soap making works, soap making terms, recipe formulation, at home tools, lye safety, how to properly clean up, curing and cutting. I will demonstrate how to make six bars of all-natural salt soap. Salt soap is made with a high amount of salt, to make for a very hard, long lasting bar. Salt soaps are not abrasive and leave your skin feeling very soft. The soap recipe will include coconut oil, distilled water, sodium hydroxide and salt. You will be able to pick between three provided scents, orange essential oil, lavender essential oil, or unscented. As well as three colorant choices, turmeric, to make a lovely orange color, purple Brazilian clay, to create a rich purple color, or no colorants. We will provide soap molds, you can choose between a rectangle bar mold or a flower mold. You will be taught how to mix a lye solution, incorporate the chosen additives into your oils, as well as how to mix your soap, to be able to pour it into the provided molds. I will provide documents for you to take home, explaining where to buy equipment, ingredients, a list of terminology and the recipe.

About the Instructor
I started making all-natural cold process soap, so I could have knowledge about the products I'm using on my skin every day. The more I learned about soap making, the more I fell in love with it. Now I have made thousands of soaps, started my own soap making business, taught others to make soap and I have participated in many craft shows. I also have made over eighty videos online to help educate the public on making all-natural soap. Soap making has been in my family for generations, and it fills me with joy to be able to continue that tradition.
