Dear Friend of the Art Center,
Have you noticed? We hope so!
The Floyd Center for the Arts has been working to become more relevant, more accessible, and more engaged with our community. We’re excited to celebrate the incredible strides we’ve made—all thanks to the support of donors like you.
Supporting Artists: We showcased 35 local and national artists through the Plein Air Biennial, expanded the weekly Artisan Market, and grew the Floyd Artisan Trail with 40 sites.
Art4All Program: Provide free monthly art classes for neurodiverse and physically impaired adults in partnership with Wall Residences.
Finalized Fire Renovations & New Studios: The Fiber Studio, Stained Glass Studio, and Digital Art & Craft Lab now provide even more opportunities for artistic exploration and innovation.
More Diverse Low Cost Concerts: This year, we hosted sold-out concerts with genres ranging from classical to folk. Our new free admission program for students led to a 40% increase in attendance, engaging a younger generation of music lovers.
Looking ahead to 2025: How your gift will make a difference:
The momentum continues! With your generosity, we can turn our exciting plans into reality.
Expanding Art4All to include youth and adults in recovery, students with disabilities, and veterans. Collaborations with Circle of Friends, the New River Valley Drug Recovery program, Floyd County High School, and veterans are already in progress for expansion in 2025.
Launching a new Glass and Metals Studio, further enriching the diversity of creative opportunities we offer.
Introducing Artful Adventures, a tourism-focused program offering 2-day or longer art classes paired with discounts and experiences at Floyd’s galleries, restaurants, and lodging.
Developing New Interest Groups and Open Studios to foster community and support. Building on existing groups like the Floyd Quilt Guild, Fine HeARTs, Figure Drawing, and the Old Dominion Blacksmithing Association, we’re launching a Fiber Group where participants can spin, weave, crochet, and connect creatively. Additionally, we plan to create interest groups for Stained Glass, Pottery, and Digital Arts, offering regular opportunities for enthusiasts in each area to meet, share, and grow their skills together.
Providing scholarships to students of all ages, helping a child attend summer camp or giving an adult the opportunity to explore their creativity.
Enhancing youth art education by integrating an Appalachian craft curriculum, preserving traditional techniques and fostering a deeper appreciation for regional heritage.
Will you help us reach our year-end fundraising goal of $40,000? Every contribution—no matter the size—makes an impact and gifts received before December 31 are tax-deductible. Thank you for believing in the power of art and community. Together, we can make 2025 a transformative year for Floyd’s artistic community.
Wishing you a Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year!
Keela Dooley Marshall
Executive Director
