Wes McCune in Concert, May 12

SAVE THE DATE – FRIDAY, MAY 12th at 7:30 PM – Piano recital given by Wes McCune at the Floyd Center for the Arts. Tickets are $25.00 in advance, $30.00 at the door and student ticketsare $15.00. Come and enjoy this wonderful evening of piano music and support your art center at the same time.

Wesley McCune is a classically trained pianist living in Floyd, Virginia.   He performs with singer Karin Paludan (Washington Performing Arts artist); Marissa Regni (principal 2nd violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra) and trumpeter Douglas Wilson. As a soloist he has performed recitals and concerti with chamber orchestras. He has performed at the Tibor Varga Music Festival in Switzerland, the Schumann House in Leipzig, Winfield House in London, at the British and Austrian embassies in Washington, the Kennedy Center and many venues throughout the Washington, DC area.

Mr. McCune retired from teaching in 2016. He taught at John Adams Elementary School, a CETA (Changing Education through the Arts) partner school with The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

His awards include the Alex Award (the Alexandria Commission for the Arts); the Whole Village Award (the Virginia Education Association); the Excellence in Education Award (Alexandria Chamber of Commerce); citations from the mayor and city council of Alexandria, Virginia; and The Agnes Meyer Award for Outstanding Teaching from The Washington Post.
