“Upcycled” Curated Art Exhibtion by Susan Icove to Open October 8, 2016

The Jacksonville Center for the Arts is pleased to hold “Upcycled”, a curated exhibition by Susan Icove, October 8 – November 26, 2016.  This will be the first exhibit held at the center under our new name “Floyd Center for the Arts”.  The opening reception will be held on Saturday, October 8, 5-7pm.  It is free and open to the public, with light snacks provided and a cash bar.

Twelve artists from across the United States have been invited to display artworks that evoke the spirit of upcycling.  Upcycling is the reuse of discarded objects or materials in such a way as to create a product of a higher quality or value than the original, according to Google.   Susan Icove is the center’s Featured Artist of the Year and you can read more about her in our previous blog post.

The exhibition artists include:

Randall Cleaver, Takoma Park, MD

David Edgar, Landrum SC

Amy Hart, Charlotte NC

Barbara Irwin, Austin TX

Sunni Mercer, Tulsa, OK

John Sager, Austin TX

Susan Skinner, Albuquerque NM

Bill Skrips, Cerrillos NM
