In a troubled economy, you might find yourself with more time on your hands than you’d envisioned. Or you might feel like the entire world is pressing down and you simply cannot face the same-old, same-old.
We have a solution for you: If you support our programs and mission, but cannot donate dollars, you might instead be able to affordably donate your time and talent to the organization. You will be pleasantly surprised with the sense of purpose and accomplishment volunteering delivers. Our skilled staff and structure will assure that you’re not wasting your time or talent. If you want to learn something new, ask us about what we need that fits your goals, and we can train you to do it.
Volunteering does more than simply get you out of the house – by itself, an excellent activity in troubled times – but also links you into a network of people with whom you might find endless resources. What if you find someone who knows of a job that perfectly suits your skill set? What if you learn something new that makes you more employable than in the past? You might simply have fun with a group of like-minded individuals who share your values.
Having a purpose – even if it’s only temporary, and even if it’s not paid – boosts the ego, keeps your mind occupied, helps you learn new things, introduces you to new situations & new people, and enhances your resume and outlook on life. Let us give you those benefits, including training and task management, by becoming a Jacksonville Center volunteer.
Talk about flexible scheduling! Come any time (within reason) and work for however long you wish, depending on the task and/or event you’ve signed up for. Some of our needs can even be accomplished in your home via computer, if you’re wired that way. We have a wide variety of needs that are simply screaming for your support:
committee service (each is chaired by a board member; most meet 1x monthly)
Community & Membership Services
event updates on web calendars
grant source research
press release writing
clipping newspaper articles
buildings and grounds
gift shop decoration
If you have skills to share with us, call, email, or come by to fill out the Volunteer Activities Form.
Currently, volunteer opportunities are available. Please contact the center for more information.
