Class Description: This class is meant for beginners to learn basic skills and to improve on what they have previously learned. Basic throwing techniques will be a focus and students will make a variety of projects including bowls, cups, and mugs. Students will also learn a variety of finishing techniques including trimming, slips, glazes, oxides, handles, and surface decoration. By the end of the course each student can hope to have several pieces and greater confidence in their throwing skills.

Minimum Age: 18 and older or with special permission by instructor

Minimum Enrollment: 3, Maximum Enrollment: 6

About the Instructor: Aaron Moseley has been crafting functional pottery for 8 years. Before moving to Floyd, Aaron taught classes at the Iowa Ceramics Center. He is now an apprentices for a local pottery. Aaron focuses on functional pottery from mugs, to creamer pourers, vases, and beyond. Aaron’s work is fired in reduction kilns, with a specific interest in wood fire and soda kilns.
