Class Description: This is the glazing and firing only portion of our Cone 10 Clay and Reduction Firing class. If you would like to take both the Cone 10 Wheel Throwing class and the Gas Reduction Kiln Firing class together, please use this link for a discounted combined price. You can also find the Cone 10 Intermediate Throwing only class here.
In this class Josh and Hona will instruct the class in glazing and cone 10 reduction firing in our large gas kiln. Taking this glazing and firing only portion of the class assumes you already have bisqueware made form cone 10 clay. If you do not, you will probably want to take the combined class linked here. You must know that your bisqeware is made from cone 10 clay or it may melt in the kiln thereby causing damage to the kiln shelves. Alternatively you could take the class to observe and learn, but you would not have any artwork to show for it.
This class is designed for intermediate to advanced students who have knowledge of throwing/handbuilding and a basic understanding of the firing process. If you are concerned whether this class is right for you, please contact the Center and discuss you’re experience with our Ceramics Studio Manager, Cory Potrafka.
