Blacksmithing: Think it, Make it, Reshape it, May 6-7

Class Description: We will forge and fabricate items from old tools, scrap metal and whatever else your imagination brings to life. All skill levels welcome. If you can think it we can make it. Come on let's have fun. Students are asked to bring their own safety glasses and to wear long pants and close-toed shoes. Aprons and gloves are optional.
Minimum Age: 18 and older or with special permission by instructor
Minimum Enrollment: 5, Maximum Enrollment: 12
About the Instructor: Brayn Fritts has been blacksmithing since 1997, and is Manley Brown's ( blacksmith in Lexington VA ) last living apprentice . He has worked in the blacksmith shop as an historic interpreter at Virginia Explore Park and does public demonstration's at fall festivals across southern VA. Brayn is self taught, as well as, has taken classes at John C Campbell Folk School and attended numerous blacksmithing workshops sponsored by the guilds located in the area. He is a member of ABANA and the Old Dominion Blacksmith's Association. Bryan states "I love working with iron and non-ferrous metals. I also do fabrication and welding and upcycled / repurposed art from junk.I live in Blue Ridge VA with my wife Becky and have four children and two grandchildren."
