Class Description: Learn to create sweet but dramatic leather flowers that will be used to fashion a small Spring hat. Leather is a very contemporary material in hat-making and these easy to make flowers will be hand-stitched to a straw base; the hat will be further embellished with a combination of ribbon, veiling and feathers. Shading and mark-making on leather will create realism to the flowers. No special tools are needed to make these flowers and no millinery experience is needed. These leather flowers can also be used on garments and in home decor. Come try your hand at creating a unique Spring hat using fine leathers and straw. Students bring: basic sewing kit with sharp craft scissors, variety of needles, tape measure, basic thread colors, bead-head pins (long), foam brush; embellishments like ribbon, veiling, ribbon; apron
Minimum Age: 18 and older or with special permission by instructor
Minimum Enrollment: 4, Maximum Enrollment: 10
