Class Description: All levels are welcome to participate in this workshop. Have you never picked up a hula hoop in your life? No worries, this is a judgement free zone where the focus is for us to learn together, based on your individual learning style. We will start each class by stretching with our circle for 10-15 minutes before we get into the fun part. I will provide music throughout our classes, but students are welcomed to send me their tunes for us to play during our practices as well. Through out the 6 weeks our focus will start with getting to know our hoop to learning tricks on certain parts of your body. Starting with your waist we will spend a good amount of time keeping the hoop around our hips. From there we will learn transition, arm hooping, hand hooping, tosses, chest rolls and so much more!
Minimum Age: All ages
Minimum Enrollment: 3, Maximum Enrollment: 7
About the Instructor: Maria's passion for hula hoops started in 2013 while she was attending the Art Institute of Minneapolis and met a friend who passed on her first hoop to her. She practiced every single day for months, just keeping it around her waist for the most part. From hooping in parking garages and small living room corners she blossomed into performing on stage with artist like “Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band”, “Big Something” and “Michael Franti and Spearhead”. Maria has found a phenomenal way to combine her love for movement, music and creativity into one, while keeping herself in shape, and she would love to share her passion with others.
