Call to Artists – The Fiber of Art – Apply Before March 8, 2019

2019 Themed Exhibit – “The Fiber of Art”

In the Hayloft Gallery, April 13 – June 1, 2019

Call to Artists, Community Members and Organizations

Theme: Fiber of Art – We invite artists and makers of all kinds to exhibit work that is literally made of fibers, depicts fibers, refers to fibers, or is metaphorically about fibers.

Technically a fiber is something that is much longer than it is wide, but for this exhibition we are thinking that there are many ways the theme can be explored. This can include weaving, quilting, and stitchery, but also dietary fiber, fiber optics, the social fabric, threads of ideas, string theory, or the warp and weft of the universe!

Entry Fee: A non-refundable application fee of $25/members, $35/non-members is required. This fee includes up to 3 submissions. Applications are due received no later than Friday, March 8, 2019.

Selection: The Exhibit Committee will review all entries and reserves the right to withhold entries from the exhibition. Notification of results will be sent out by Friday, March 22, 2019 by phone or e-mail.

Delivery and Pickup of work: Accepted work must be delivered to the Center Saturday April 6, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm or Monday, April 8, 10:00am—4:00pm. Work must be picked up Monday, June 3, 10:00am – 4:00pm or by special arrangement.

Each piece of work must be permanently identified on the back with title and artist. Wall art must be fitted with wire or other means for secure hanging. Gallery staff will not prepare work for hanging. Sawtooth hangers are NOT acceptable.

A “People’s Choice” award of $50 will be awarded. The public will be invited to vote for their favorite piece. The winner will be announced after the end of the exhibit.

Sales: A 30% commission for members and 40% for nonmembers will be charged for all sales by the gallery. Sales tax will be collected and reported by The Center.
