24th Annual Winterfest and Festival of Trees – Dec 1 & 2, 2018

Shop local, shop handmade, shop FUN!  The Floyd Center for the Arts 24th Annual Winterfest Arts & Crafts Festival and the 5th Annual Festival of Trees will be held on Saturday December 1, 10 am – 5 pm and on Sunday, December 2, 11 am – 5 pm.  This year’s event features more than 30 artisan vendors selling their wares, kids’ holiday-themed art activities, our ever-popular Art Cafe offering breakfast, lunch, beverages and snacks, and more than 50 trees and wreaths decorated by local businesses and organizations available in a silent auction.  Admission is FREE and all are welcome to join in the festive family fun!

The first Winterfest was designed as a year-end showcase of local artisanship and creativity, in time for local residents’ holiday shopping, many of whom have a policy of buying locally made handcrafted gifts for friends and family. Twenty-three years later, Winterfest remains the best opportunity for shoppers to find a wide variety of handmade, local, unique gifts all offered at one place, allowing shoppers to connect with makers and learn the stories behind the gifts.

Back for its fifth year, Festival of Trees features a silent auction of decorated trees and wreaths. The Floyd Center for the Arts has partnered with Floyd businesses and organizations to celebrate the holiday season and also encourage shoppers to visit local outlets for gifts, decorations, and food for the season.  This year’s Festival of Trees has over 50 participating businesses.  Each pre-decorated, tabletop holiday tree or hanging wreath will be on display at Winterfest, with the final bidding for visitors to win a tree to take home for the holidays finishing at 4:30PM on Sunday, Dec 2.  A complete list of participating businesses will be posted to this page once it is available.

The Art Café will again be a significant element of the offerings, full of homemade delicacies, baked goods, soups, snacks, and more.  A special FREE kids’ holiday ornament craft activity is also planned for the little ones to enjoy.

Floyd County’s Annual Holiday Christmas Parade will also be held on Sunday, December 2  at 3:00 pm, presented by Floyd Co Merchants & Businessmen Associates.  The theme for 2018 is “Toyland”.  So, come shop at Winterfest then stay for the parade and have a great day in Floyd!  (Please note, the road will be closed during the parade, so if you are still north of the Center on Route 8 at 3, you won’t be able to get through to reach the Floyd Center for the Arts until the parade ends at about 4:30, and, conversely, if you are at the Center at 3:00 pm, you will not be able to get through downtown Floyd, heading north on Route 8, until about 4:30 pm. Winterfest is open until 5, though, with final bidding on the silent auction Festival of Trees closing at 4:30 pm, so you’re welcome to stay)!
